We Are Finally In New Zealand

After months of planning and Rich arriving here several weeks ago, we are settling into our house today. We are on Ohope Beach, just outside of Whakatane, the town where Rich is working. Whakatane is a small beach town, with lots of tourism in the summer. Since the seasons are opposite ours, we were expecting warm weather. Not so today, it is cold and rainy. Rich has been assured by co-workers that it will warm up soon.

The girls each have their own room on the second floor. The one and only bathroom is on the main floor, near our bedroom. The house is really nice with big rooms and lots of vaulted ceilings. It even has an unobstructed view of a harbor. I can't believe we get to stay in such a nice place. I've never lived close to water, and I can already tell I'm going to love, love, love looking out my window and seeing the beautiful harbor!

Since it's so rainy and Rich is at work, it's been a quiet day. I've enjoyed setting up the kitchen and organizing the house. The girls are a little bored and would like to go to the beach, but it is really really wet and cold. We're going to get bikes for everyone in the next few days. The girls will also start school on Monday. They are excited to get going and see what school in N.Z. is like.
